Samford University's student media publications brought home more accolades from last week’s College Media Association annual conference. 

The David L. Adams Apple Awards, which is given annually as a “Best of Show” at the CMA Spring Conference in New York City, honored both Samford’s annual magazine, The Local and Samford’s yearbook, Entre Nous, as part of its awards ceremony on Saturday, March 16.

 

Awards were as follows:

  • Third Place, Best Magazine, Divisions II and III, The Local
  • Honorable Mention, Best Magazine Cover, Divisions II and III, The Local
  • Honorable Mention, Best Yearbook Cover, Division II, Entre Nous

The 2023 edition of The Local was helmed by Noelle Neader and featured stories and photographs produced by students in Samford’s print and online journalism practicum program. Communication and Media professor Clay Carey oversees production as the instructor of the practicum class.

Entre Nous is produced annually by students. The editor-in-chief for the 2023 edition was Alison Williams. The student media adviser is Will Heath.

This year’s award ceremony was held at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square. The awards are named in honor of David L. Adams, a longtime College Media Advisers stalwart and Indiana University advisor, who died in 2007.
